WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Drury men's and women's track and field teams set numerous top-10 program marks at the Kip and Kirk Mule Relays on April 9-10.
DAY ONE
Santiago Nunez led the men on the track on day one, finishing first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:18.22, a career best that ranks second in school history. Cera Eckenroth led the women's team with a first-place finish in the 1,500-meter invitational in 4:36.71, also a career best that ranks third in school history.
Luca Scholes-Robertson came up 0.004 seconds short in the men's 1,500 meters, placing second in 3:52.379, ranking fifth in program history.
Jasmyn Douglas earned a third-place finish in the 800 meters in 2:20.70, less than a second off her best time for the Panthers. Alexis Workman also placed third in the 1,500-meter open in 4:51.58, with Rachel Omoruyi just behind in 4:51.59.
Lauren Coleman once again qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash, finishing fifth in prelims in 12.04. Caden Green also advanced to finals in the 110-meter hurdles after placing eighth in 15.41, 0.01 off his best time for Drury.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Qwentin Luginbill and Alya Diable both placed fourth. Luginbill finished in 55.06, a career best that ranks third in school history. Diable ran 1:03.63, less than a second off the school record she set at the Bearcat Invitational.
In relay action, the men's team of Kaiden Tripp, Rylan Malloy, Troy Huff, and Jakob Buchberger broke the school record they set last weekend, finishing eighth in the 4x100 in 42.26. The women's quad of Liberty Cragun, Taylor Hopper, Anna Talbot, and Lauren Coleman placed third in 48.12, ranking fourth in program history.
On the field, Anna Talbot led the Panthers with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, at 5.56 meters. Ethan Barr finished ninth on the men's side with a career-best mark of 6.67 meters.
DAY TWO
The Panthers had another strong showing during day two, placing in the top three in seven events. Luca Scholes-Robertson led Drury as he finished first in the 800 meters in 1:55.80. Tion McLeish followed in third in 1:56.44, ranking 10th in program history.
In the women's 800 meters, Rachel Omoruyi placed third in 2:23.64, ranking 10th in school history. Ella Hayter finished ninth in 2:26.53.
In the finals of the 100 meters, Lauren Coleman finished second in 12.42. In the 110-meter hurdles final, Caden Green placed fifth in 15.52.
Tanner Clippard earned his first placing of the outdoor season, placing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase open in 9:51.83, a career best that ranks fifth in school history.
In relays, the women's 4x400 team featuring Alya Diable, Taylor Hopper, Lauren Coleman, and Liberty Cragun placed third in 3:59.11, the fourth-fastest time in school history. The men's squad of Qwentin Luginbill, Tion McLeish, Jakob Buchberger, and Rylan Malloy finished seventh in 3:19.98, setting a new program record.
On the field side, Braden Baker jumped 13.55 meters in the triple jump to place third. Ethan Barr followed in seventh with a distance of 13.19 meters. Gunner Bradshaw finished fifth in the high jump with 1.89 meters.
LOOKING AHEAD
Drury track and field will send some athletes to the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific, April 16-18, while the rest of the squad competes in the Missouri State Invitational on April 17.
