BOLIVAR, Mo.— Drury finished fifth after the third and final round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference men's golf championship at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar on Monday, missing the cut to advance to Tuesday's medal match play tournament by one stroke. The Panthers finished with a 17-over par, 881 after 54 holes and ended the stroke play portion of the championship one shot behind fourth-place Indianapolis.
Missouri-St. Louis finished first in stroke play, shooting an even-par score of 864. 17
th ranked Missouri S&T was second (+7), and Lewis came in third at eight-over par. The top four teams in stroke play advance to a medal match play tournament on Tuesday.
Hunter Jowers led Drury and in the third round on Monday, had the best round of the tournament by a Panther. Jowers fired a four-under par 68 in his second 18 holes on Monday to finish fifth overall with a one-under par 215 for the tournament. His one-under par score is the third best score at a conference championship by a Drury golfer. Jowers finished last year's GLVC championship two-under par.
Wil Claywell came in eighth, shooting a one-over par 217, and
Gaige Lewis tied for 28
th with a +7, 223.
Alex Wiseman tied for 43
rd finishing 13-over par, and
Ellton Bostrom tied for 53
rd after posting a +16, 232.
Kal Kolar was 17-over par and came in 59
th.
Drury's fifth place finish at the GLVC championship matches their finish last year when they tied for fifth.
Cody Donovan from Lewis won medalist honors in stroke play and finished with a six-under par 210. He won by three shots over Cameron Young from Indianapolis.
UMSL will take on Indianapolis and Missouri S&T will face Lewis in the semifinals of match play on Tuesday morning. The semifinal winners will advance to the championship round of match play Tuesday afternoon.
