Panthers slotted at seventh in NCAA-II regional rankings

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury Softball is ranked seventh in the second installment of the NCAA-II regional rankings released on April 23.
 
There are four Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) ranked in the top 10 with Lewis the highest at fifth. McKendree is sixth, followed by Drury at seven. Indianapolis rounds out the list at ten. The four teams for the GLVC are tied for the most in the region with the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), having four teams in the rankings.
 
Saginaw Valley State is the highest-ranked team in the region. If the season ended today, Drury would match up with, second-ranked, Tiffin at Tiffin in the first round.
 
64 teams qualify for this season's national tournament, with the top eight teams in the Midwest region earning a spot.
 
Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin on May 8-10, with the first-round regional on 16 different campuses across the United States. Four teams will participate at each regional site in a double-elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.
 
 The NCAA will announce the final field of 64 on Monday, May 5 at 9 a.m. central time on NCAA.com.
 
Drury closes out the regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader against Southwest Baptist. The Panthers are currently in second place in the GLVC, one game behind Lewis.
