KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Rockhurst got past Drury 4-3 in the final match of the regular season at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday. The Panthers fell to 12-4 and 2-2 in the West Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Rockhurst improved to 13-5 and 4-0 in the GLVC.
Drury played without
Yaroslav Sharyy, ranked 23
rd nationally in singles and, with
Lukas Rieber, is ranked 21
st in doubles.
Highlights
- The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in doubles, winning two of the matches. Playing in the lead position, Mark Drozdetzkii and Lukas Rieber defeated 34th ranked Louis Keiner and Alex Tikhonov 6-4 to clinch the doubles point
- Drury won the number two and number three singles matches as Mattieu Gachon won 6-2, 6-4, and Lukas Rieber picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the number three match-up
- Gachon won his eighth straight and improved to 12-1 with his singles win
- Rockhurst clinched the win from 16th ranked Semyon Tsyrenov, who won in the number one slot, defeating Chuy Gonzalez, 7-6 (7-3), 62.
