Panthers Place Sixth, 10th at Rumble in the Jungle

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Drury men's and women's track teams placed sixth and 10th, respectively, at the Rumble in the Jungle, hosted by Pittsburg State, on Friday, Jan. 23.  
 
The Drury men scored 36.5 points to place sixth, while the women totaled 14 points for a 10th-place finish.
 
Luca Scholes-Robertson led the men with a victory in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 8:24.95 to rank second all-time in school history. Topi Alahuhta followed in second (8:26.78), while Ethan Haynes placed third (8:31.83) as Drury swept the top three spots in the event.
 
Kyle Keltner posted a third-place finish in the mile with a career-best time of 4:09.01, improving his previous mark by one second. Rylan Malloy set a personal record in the 400 meters, finishing 15th in 49.83.
 
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Qwentin Luginbill, Troy Huff, Arturo Martinez, and Malloy placed ninth with a time of 3:25.16, breaking the Drury school record.
 
On the women's side, Delaney Riekert led the Panthers with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters (25.13). Lauren Coleman followed in 12th (25.74). Cera Eckenroth placed sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:59.13, ranking fourth all-time at Drury. Ayla Diable finished 15th in the 400 meters (1:01.01).
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Riekert, Diable, Coleman, and Taylor Hopper placed fourth in 3:59.11, the second-fastest time in program history, missing the school record by .03 seconds.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Gunner Bradshaw placed fifth in the high jump (2.00m). 
  • Anna Talbot finished eighth in the triple jump (10.41m) and 10th in the long jump (5.24m)
  • Troy Huff posted a 7.18 time in the 60 meters, ranking fourth all-time. 
  • Taylor Green finished ninth in the triple jump (10.40m).
  • Georgi Carolus placed 13th in the mile (5:20.26). 
  • Gabe Bauer finished eighth in the 3,000 meters (8:36.83).

Drury track and field returns to Pittsburg for the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31.
