Drury Closes Regular Season at Pittsburg State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Drury track and field closed the regular season at the Pittsburg State "The Almost Last Chance" Invitational on Saturday in an attempt to secure national qualifying marks. 
 
Rachel Omoruyi led the Panthers on the track, finishing first in the women's 800 meters in 2:14.42, moving to second in program history. On the men's side, Tion McLeish set a career best with a time of 1:53.13. 
 
Freshman Rylan Malloy had a strong showing, setting career bests in the 200 meters at 21.94 and in the 400 meters at 48.05.
 
In field events, Anna Talbot led the Panthers, placing fifth with a jump of 5.44 meters. In the men's high jump, Gunner Bradshaw finished sixth with a jump of 1.95 meters.  
 
Going into the weekend, Drury held three qualifying marks. Cera Eckenroth ranks 37th in the women's 5,000 meters, Nolan Moeller ranks 38th in the men's 800 meters, and Santiago Nunez ranks 43rd in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Selections for the NCAA National Championship will be announced Tuesday, May 12. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Qualifying athletes will compete in the NCAA National Championship on May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas.
