PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Drury men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State, on Feb. 13-14.
On day one,
Anna Talbot had the Panthers' best finish, placing 13th in the long jump with a mark of 5.55 meters.
Rylan Malloy and
Jakob Buchberger each recorded a time of 22.45 in the 200-meter dash, placing 43rd and 44th. Malloy and Buchberger are tied for second in school history in the 200 meters.
Kaiden Tripp placed 36th in the 60 meters in 7.05, ranking second in school history. Buchberger followed with a career-high 7.06, which now ranks third.
On day two, the Panthers had their top two results.
Kyle Keltner led the Panthers with a second-place finish in the 3,000 meters with a career-best 8:24.26, ranking second all-time in school history. Arturo Martinez secured a third-place finish in the 800 meters in 1:52.17, also ranking second all-time.
The 4x400 meter team of
Qwentin Luginbill, Buchberger, Martinez, and Malloy placed 18th in 3:21.93, breaking the school record by nearly four seconds.
In the long jump,
Braden Baker placed 13th with a mark of 13.71 meters, and
Ethan Barr set a career best, placing 21st with 13.01 meters.
James Sly set a career-high in the mile, finishing 19th with his time of 4:19.54.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Rylan Malloy set a career-best 400 meters in 49.73, improving his school record.
- Liberty Cragun set a new career-best in the 60 meters with 8.13.
- Lauren Coleman set a season-high in the 200 meters in 25.65.
- Will Wegener set a season-high in the mile in 4:29.51.
- Taylor Green placed 17th in the long jump with a career-best 10.83 meters, ranking fourth all-time.
- Nolan Moeller returned to action with a 29th-place finish in the 800 meters in 1:55.36.
- Josie Diffendaffer placed 23rd in the 3,000 meters in 10:25.61.
- Trent Patterson placed 17th in the 3,000 meters in 8:43.15, and Santiago Nunez placed 23rd in 8:49.02.
