Both Drury Men's and Women's Tennis Down Maryville

ST. LOUIS – Drury tennis swept Maryville on Saturday afternoon in St. Louis. The Panthers men's team won 5-2 and the women 6-1.
 
MEN'S MATCH – Drury 5, Maryville 2
  • Maryville stole the doubles point from Drury by winning the top two lines.
  • The lone doubles line that the Panthers won was the third one (Matthieu Gachon/Gustavo Oliveira). They won 6-2.
  • The Panthers made up the early deficit in a hurry. Marco Romano (third line) secured the Panthers first point in a straight set victory (6-0, 6-1).
  • Drury took the lead on the second line from Matthieu Gachon (6-4, 6-2) and did not look back.
  • Chuy Gonzalez (first line), Tristan Stock (fourth line), and Oscar Reis (sixth line) each went to a decisive third set and pulled out the point.
  • Maryville recorded their second point on the fifth singles line.
  • The win is Drury's fourth consecutive win.
 
WOMEN'S MATCH – Drury 6, Maryville 1
  • The Saints forfeited the third doubles line making Drury only needing to win one line for the first point. They would win the second line (Franca Piaggi/Leana Chanove) 6-2 to secure the early lead.
  • The sixth singles line was also forfeited for the Maryville, putting the Panthers up 2-0.
  • Leana Chanove would stay perfect on the season with a sweep, 6-4 and 6-2, from the top line.
  • Naz Yaver would keep the momentum going for Drury with a 6-1, 6-4 sweep in the third line.
  • Antanina Novik (second line) and Franca Piaggi (fourth line) would each win in three sets.
  • Maryville won the fifth line in straight sets for their lone point.
  • Drury is still perfect as a team on the season, 4-0.
