Panthers Post Strong Performances at Bearcat Invite

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Drury men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State on Feb. 6 and 7.  
 
On day one, the Panthers competed in the 5,000 meters and the distance medley relay. Topi Alahuhta won the 5,000 meters in 14:30.00, breaking the school record by 15 seconds. Ethan Haynes followed in second with his time of 14:39.70, ranking second-fastest in program history.
 
In the distance medley relays, the men's team of Kyle Keltner, Rylan Malloy, Arturo Martinez, and Luca Scholes-Robertson placed fourth with a provisional mark of 9:53.55, setting a new school record. 
 
The Panthers added several strong performances on day two. Anna Talbot won the long jump with a distance of 5.56 meters. Delaney Riekert improved her 400-meter record with her third-place finish in 57.14 seconds. Cera Eckenroth also finished third in the mile with a time of 4:59.87, ranking third all-time in program history. 
 
On the men's side, Keltner won the mile with a provisional mark of 4:08.11. Martinez placed fifth in the 800 meters in 1:52.52, ranking third-fastest in school history. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Riekert finished third in the 200 meters in 25.05. 
  • Morgan Faulkner, Alya Diable, Jasmyn Douglas, and Georgi Carolus finished fifth in the distance medley relay in 12:40.96.
  • Santiago Nunez finished seventh in the 5,000 meters in 15:09.91.
  • Mason St. Clair recorded a career-best 6.44 meters to place 17th in the long jump.
  • Carolus placed 19th in the 800 meters in 2:20.35, ranking fourth all-time. 
  • Qwentin Luginbill finished 22nd in the 400 meters in 49.92, ranking second all-time.
  • Ella Crowder posted a career-best 11.13 meters in the shot put to finish 25th. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Drury track and field closes the indoor regular season at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State, on Feb. 13-14 in Pittsburg, Kan.
