SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury tennis defeated Northeastern State on both men's and women's sides on Sunday afternoon in Springfield. The men's team swept the Riverhawks, 7-0, and the women won 5-2.
MEN'S MATCH (W, 7-0)
- The Panthers took the doubles point in just 24 minutes, with both the second (Chuy Gonzalez/Tristan Stock) and third line (Matthieu Gachon/Marco Romano) winning their matches.
- Northeastern State was able to win the top doubles match.
- Freshman Tristan Stock won his first collegiate match to pick up Drury's second point. Stock won the fourth line (6-1, 6-4).
- Oscar Reis (sixth line) then followed with a 6-3, 6-3 sweep.
- Chuy Gonzalez won his first match of the season on the Drury top singles line (6-2, 7-5).
- Marco Romano won his first match as a Panther. The Washburn transfer won the third line (7-5, 6-3).
- Matthieu Gachon (second line) and Gustavo Oliveira (fifth line) each won in three sets.
- The win for Oliveira was his first career win.
- The Panthers are now 1-1 on the season.
WOMEN'S MATCH (W, 5-2)
- Drury took an early 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles points with victories from Franca Piaggi and Leana Chanove (second line) and Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa and Ina Bechle (third line).
- Leana Chanove dominated on the top singles line, giving up one game in the sweep of Sofiia Kotliarova (6-0, 6-1).
- Naz Yaver (third line) won the second match of her college career (6-4, 6-2) to start her career 2-0.
- The Panthers clinched the match on the fifth line with Franca Piaggi beating Carla Alvarez Perez (6-4, 6-3).
- Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa won her first match of the season on the sixth line.
- Northeastern State picked up two points on the second and fourth lines.
- Drury is now 2-0 on the season.

Both Drury teams will return to Cooper Tennis Complex on February 14 as they face crosstown foe Evangel at 5 pm.
