Drury and Ouachita Split Tennis Matches

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Drury men's tennis got back in the win column with a 4-3 victory over Ouachita Baptist, as the women's team fell 3-4 to the Tigers.
 
MEN'S MATCH – Drury 4, Ouachita Baptist 3
  • The Tigers won the doubles point, thanks to wins on the first and second lines.
  • Matthieu Gachon and Lukas Rieber won the third line 6-4.
  • Drury took the lead for the first time after wins on the first line (Chuy Gonzalez, 6-4, 6-3) and the third line (Marco Romano, 6-3, 7-5).
  • After taking the lead, Drury did not look back. The Panthers won the fourth (Tristan Stock) and fifth (Lukas Rieber) lines.
  • Ouachita earned its second and third points in the match on the second and sixth lines.
  • The win for Drury was their first win since March 6, ending a three-match skid.
 
WOMEN'S MATCH – Ouachita Baptist 4, Drury 3
  • Drury's second doubles line of Franca Piaggi and Leana Chanove won their match 7-5, but that was the only doubles win for the Panthers as Ouachita took the doubles point.
  • Naz Yaver got the Panthers on the board with her sweep on the third line (6-1, 6-1).
  • Ina Bechle followed up Yaver with a win of her own on the fourth line (6-2, 6-1).
  • After a Tigers win on the fifth line, Leana Chanove tied the match on a sweep of the first line, putting Drury one point away from the win.
  • A two-and-a-half match from Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa and Jennifer Pfaefflin went to three sets, as Pfaefflin and the Tigers were able to pull away and take the win for Ouachita.
  • The loss was Drury's third consecutive.
 
UP NEXT
Drury tennis is back on the road on March 29 as they face Northwest Missouri State in Maryville.
