No. 49 Drury Secures Share of GLVC West Title; Panthers Shut Out Jewell

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's tennis clinches a share of the GLVC West title as both tennis programs shut out William Jewell in the home finale.
 
MEN'S MATCH – No. 49 Drury 7, William Jewell 0
  • Drury swept doubles to take an early 1-0 advantage.
  • Every Drury singles player won in straight sets.
  • Matthieu Gachon (first line), Nicolas Quintero Zaugg (fifth line), and Connor Kitchin (sixth line) each had at least one set where they did not allow their opponent to win a game.
  • The win was the Panthers' fourth straight.
  • Drury has now clinched at least a share of the GLVC West Division regular season title.
  • Since the GLVC went to the division format in the 2006 season, Drury has now won or tied for the West Division title 17 times.
 
WOMEN'S MATCH – Drury 7, William Jewell 0
  • With William Jewell only playing with two doubles pairs, Drury only needed to win one line to clinch the doubles point. The Panthers did so, winning both lines, not allowing a point.
  • Leana Chanove took the next point for Drury on the top line, winning in two sets. The win was Chanove's 48th of her career, tied for the 15th most in program history.
  • Naz Yaver (second line), Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa (third line), and Brooklyn Acuff (fifth line) each shut out their opponents, winning 6-0, 6-0.
  • Charlotte Lesage won in straight sets on the fourth line.
  • Jewell retired on the sixth line for the Panthers seventh point of the match.
 
UP NEXT
