BOLIVAR, Mo. – Drury men's tennis clinched the outright GLVC West Division title with a 5-2 win over Southwest Baptist. The women's team beat SBU with the same score on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar.
MEN'S MATCH – Drury 5, Southwest Baptist 2
- SBU took an early lead with the doubles point. Matthieu Gachon and Chuy Gonzalez won the top line 6-0.
- SBU's second point came on the fifth singles line in straight sets.
- Drury dominated the singles matches with Chuy Gonzalez (first line), Matthieu Gachon (second line), Marco Romano (third line), and Oscar Reis (sixth line), all winning in straight sets.
- Tristan Stock won the fourth line in three sets after dropping the first set.
- The win clinched the GLVC West Division title for Drury. It was Drury's first outright division title since 2024 and 13th division outright title since the 2010 spring season.
WOMEN'S MATCH – Drury 5, Southwest Baptist 2
- Drury's second and third doubles lines took wins to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage.
- SBU got their two points on the second and third singles lines in straight sets.
- Leana Chanove won the top line in three sets. With the win, Chanove recorded her 48th career singles win, the 15th most in program history.
- Franca Piaggi (fourth line), Ina Bechle (fifth line), and Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa (sixth line) all won in straight sets to clinch the win for Drury.
- With the win, Drury clinched a top-two seed in the West Division for the fifth straight season.
UP NEXT
Both tennis programs have clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament in Indianapolis next week. The bracket will be released by the GLVC later this weekend.
