Stock Wins Eighth Straight Singles Match as Panthers Split with Tritons

ST. LOUIS – Drury continued their road stretch with a match against Missouri-St. Louis. The men's program won their second match in the last three as the women's team dropped their fifth straight.
 
MEN'S MATCH – No. 42 Drury 4, UMSL 1
  • The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead after winning the top two doubles matches. Chuy Gonzalez and Tristan Stock won the first line 6-2, and Oscar Reis and Marco Romano won 6-4 on the second line.
  • Stock stayed hot and won the fourth singles line in straight sets for the Panthers second point. Stock has now won eight straight singles matches.
  • Matthieu Gachon was the next Drury player to finish. He won the second line in three sets after dropping the first set.
  • UMSL got its lone point on the third line in three sets.
  • Drury clinched the match on the top singles line with a win from Chuy Gonzalez in three sets.
  • Since 2008, Drury is 19-0 against UMSL.
 
WOMEN'S MATCH – UMSL 4, Drury 1
  • The first and third UMSL doubles lines clinched the doubles point with wins.
  • The Tritons took wins on the first, second, and fourth singles lines.
  • Naz Yaver was the only Drury player to win; she won the third line in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
  • Drury has now dropped five straight matches. It is the first time since the 2011 season that the Panthers have lost five straight matches.
 
UP NEXT
Drury's road stretch extends to six matches next week as GLVC play starts. The women's team plays at Truman State on April 10 and both programs at Quincy on April 11.
