QUINCY, Ill. –
Tyler Arthur had four hits including a two run homer, four RBIs and scored three runs in the nightcap to give the Drury Baseball Panthers a 7-4 victory and a GLVC road split at Quincy on Sunday with Quincy winning the opener 6-0 here on Sunday.
Drury is now 18-20-1 overall and 13-13-1 in the GLVC with Quincy going to 25-14 overall and 19-9 in GLVC play.
In the nightcap pair of RBI hit by pitches by
John Goodrich and
Mike Rafter in the opening inning gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead. In the Panther second Arthur gave Drury a four run cushion with a two RBI single that scored
Luke Tewes and
Bobby Lang and made it 4-0 Panthers. Arthur scored on a Quincy wild pitch in the Panther fifth to make it 5-0 and then continued to give the Hawks all they could handle with a two run homer to plate
Dallas Williams and make it 7-0 Drury in the top of the ninth.
The Hawks were able to plate four runs on three hits in the bottom of the ninth but could draw no closer.
Luke Burnidge (3-3) earned the win for the Panthers and Jake Peterson (2-4) received the loss for the Hawks. Tewes had three hits and scored two runs for the Panthers who finished with 10 hits while Quincy finished with six hits.
In the opener Quincy posted a 6-0 shutout and scored six runs on eight hits including a pair of homers from Kory Wisdom and Gordon Gundaker. Wisdom finished with three hits, three RBIs and three runs to pace the Hawks.
Tommy Hager (3-0) posted the shutout win and held the Panthers to just three hits in the seven inning opener with nine strikeouts.
Ryan Colombo (4-2) received the loss for the Panthers and had three strikeouts in six innings.
Drury will host Arkansas Tech on Wednesday, April 22
nd at 3 p.m. in a single nine inning contest at Meador Park.
