ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Drury volleyball Panthers fell 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at Neil Carey Arena on Friday.
Drury is now 7-2, 0-1 GLVC and Lewis won their eighth straight match and is now 9-1, 1-0 GLVC.
Lewis claimed the match by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and outlasted DU in the third set 34-32.
Laynie Timmons lead DU with a .417 hitting percentage and 14 kills.
BJ Specht added 13 kills and
Brooke Antenen added eight kills with 32 assists and 14 digs.
McKenna Poynter lead the Panthers with 19 digs. Elizabeth Hyland led Lewis with 13 kills and Alexis Davito had 10 kills.
Lewis hit over .300 in the first two sets hitting .333 in the first set and .308 in the second set but managed just a .175 mark in the marathon 34-32 third set win.
Drury will continue GLVC road action at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday in a 3 p.m. match.
