AURORA, Ill. – Drury opened the Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover Tournament with a 3-1 win over Grand Valley State on Friday at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Illinois.
The Panthers dropped the first set 25-19, but came back to win the next three including a 25-8 victory in the third set against the Lakers.
Drury improved to 13-7 while Grand Valley State dropped to 10-7. The win was the Panthers' 11th victory in their last 14 games.
Emmalee Chrest and Sarah Kite both had 12 kills to lead the Panthers while Tori Foster added another 11. Brooke Antenen had 29 assists and two aces. McKenna Poynter also had two aces to go along with 29 digs.
Drury plays twice tomorrow in the 36-team tournament. The Panthers take on Trevecca Nazarene at 10 a.m. then play the University of Findlay at 4 p.m.
