BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The No. 38 Drury men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 by Washington (Mo.) University in their first road match of the season Saturday at the Kings Point Racquet Club.
Drury goes to 2-1 and Washington, 4
th ranked in NCAA-III is 1-0.
The match started with singles play today and the Bears battled for wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 spots. Drury's 10
th ranked
Maximilian Hepp won at the top of the lineup 6-1, 6-3,
Sebastien Amato took Jason Haugen down at No. 2 by a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 score and
Sacha Mourier won over Shaun Berman at No. 6 by a 6-2, 6-2 score. Matches 2, 3 and 5 all went three sets.
In doubles play #15 Hepp and Amato took care of business at No. 1 with an 8-6 win. Washington claimed the match with wins at No. 2 by a 9-8(11-9) score and at No. 3 by a 9-7 score.
Drury will return home to Cooper Tennis Complex on February 17 when they will face Oklahoma Baptist at 8 p.m.
