The No. 38 Drury men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory over 28th ranked Washburn in their season opener at Copper Tennis Complex on Friday.
Drury goes to 1-0 and Washburn falls to 0-1.
Washburn led 2-1 after doubles play with wins of 8-4 and 8-3 at No. 2 and No. 3 while Maximilian Hepp and
Sebastien Amato won 8-4 at No. 1.
In singles action Drury won 5-of-6 singles to claim the victory over the Ichabods. The Panthers posted a pair of three set wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
Washburn posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at the top of the lineup by Aleja Plaza over Hepp.
Drury will host Mckendree on Sunday at Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:15 a.m.
