SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury men's tennis team completed an undefeated regular season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the 12th straight year as they downed Truman State 9-0 on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. The Panthers have never lost a GLVC regular season match since they entered the league in 2006 and will start next year with a 71-match winning streak in the league.
Drury, ranked 17
th nationally, ended the regular season 16-2 and 5-0 in the GLVC. The Bulldogs fell to 2-14 and 0-5 in the league.
The Panthers shutout Truman State and started the day winning all three doubles matches. Maximillian Hepp and
Sebastien Amato won their match 8-0 over Ryan Bunselmeyer and Conner Frazier.
In singles, Drury's
Nico Hadeler swept both sets winning 6-0, 6-0 over Griffin Turnage.
Nico Sigloch won 6-0, 6-1 over Conner Frazier and Hepp also won with a 6-0, 6-1 score as he defeated Ryan Bunselmeyer.
Before the game, the Panthers honored their two senior players, Maxi Hepp and
Nico Sigloch, as part of Senior Day. Hepp ended the season 12-3 in singles and 12-3 in doubles with Sabastien Amato. Sigloch went 17-1 in singles and 12-6 in doubles with
Sacha Mourier.
Drury will advance to the GLVC Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri as the top seed in the West Division. The Panthers will play the fourth seed in the East, McKendree, at noon on Friday, April 21 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The tournament runs through Sunday.
