INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Drury men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Tournament with a 5-0 win over Northwood (Mich.) in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday.
The 18
th ranked Panthers improved to 19-3 while Northwood ended their season with a 10-11 record.
Drury swept all three doubles matches to gain an early lead. Drury's Maximillian Hepp and
Sebastien Amato edged David Reinauer and Austin Woody 8-6 while
Sacha Mourier and
Nico Sigloch cruised to an 8-1 win over Kobus Sauerman and Francois Saurerman.
Paul Porcher and
Nico Hadeler gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead in the match an 8-3 win over Hayden Drury and Ivan Medvynski.
After Sigloch defeated Lorenz Bialkowski 6-2, 6-4, Drury clinched the match with Hadeler's 6-2, 6-1 win over Francois Sauerman.
The Panthers will play Indianapolis in the NCAA-II regional second round and will be a rematch of last week's Great Lakes Valley Conference championship match won by the Greyhounds 5-0. UIndy defeated Southern Indiana 5-2 in their opening round match to advance to the second round. Play begins for the second round at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind.
