Playing in their third GLVC match of the season, the 17
th-ranked Drury men's tennis team handed UMSL an 8-1 GLVC loss at Cooper Tennis Complex. With this victory, the Panthers' third in a row and 12
th in their last 13 matches, improves DU's record to 14-2 overall and 3-0 in the league. The Tritons fall to 6-3 overall, and 2-1 in the league.
Drury swept all three doubles matches, with
Sacha Mourier and
Nico Sigloch posting an 8-5 win over Ben Kasprzak and Milan Kovacks at number two doubles. Then 11
th-ranked
Maximilian Hepp and
Sebastien Amato dropped Krisfoffer Lindal and Rob White, 8-4. Helping the Panthers cruise into singles play with a 3-0 lead,
Leonardo Cerri and
Nico Hadeler came out on top in close matchup, 9-8 at No. 3.
In singles, the Panthers bottom half of the lineup continues to be a bright spot, now a combined 32-3 on the year. Sigloch, Mourier and Cerri proved that dominance once again. Cerri earned his win in three sets, 6-4, 3-6(10-6) over Lindal. Amato and Hadeler cruised to 6-3, 6-0, and 6-0, 6-3 wins respectively, at No. 2 and No. 3. UMSL scored a point at the top of the lineup 7-6, 6-3.
Drury will host Quincy on March 14 when they return to GLVC action. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
