SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The 13
th-ranked Drury men's tennis team upended No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist 8-1, Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The Panthers (5-0) claimed all three doubles points to set the tone early.
The Panthers top doubles pair of Sebastien Amato and Gregor Kokalj got past Kevin Andrusch and Luis Romero 9-8 at the top of the lineup.
Competitive matches at No. 2 and No. 3 both went the way of the Panthers. Nico Hadeler and Lukas Stierling bested Matias LeFort and Gian Galdi 8-6 at No. 2.
The No. 3 doubles team of Augustin Diot and Sacha Mourier earned an 8-4 victory over Dani Aguilera and Lucas Branco.
In singles play Friday, Oklahoma Baptist was able to claim just one point with a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 5. Amato, playing at the top of the Panther lineup, defeated Branco in a three set battle by scores of 4-6, 6-2 (10-4). Hadeler played at No.2 and won a 6-1, 6-2 match over Andrusch.
Diot and Mourier had no problems, with Diot winning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 and Mourier winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6. Kokalj posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over Romero.
Oklahoma Baptist fell to 0-2.
On February 18
th, Drury will play host to Lindenwood at Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:15 a.m.
