SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 12th-ranked Drury men's tennis team defeated Newman University 7-2 Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex.

Drury improved to 7-0 for the year with the victory, while the Jets fell to 3-3.

Drury took two of the three doubles matches for an early 2-1 advantage.  Leonardo Cerri and Gregor Kokalj posted an 8-6 win at the top of the lineup and Nico Hadeler and Lukas Stierling secured an 8-5 victory at the bottom of the lineup. 

In singles, Drury earned three set wins by Kokalj over Lukas Norbiato, 4-6, 6-2(11-9) and Stierling over Szabin Pszfay 7-6, 5-7(10-4).  Drury dominated the Jets in their remaining three victories.  Hadeler won at the top of the lineup over Lauri Soome 6-2, 6-2, Augustin Diot beat Blake Crawford 6-1, 6-3, and Sacha Mourier came out on top 6-4, 6-2 against Diego Rojo.

Drury will host Lewis University on February 25 at Cooper Tennis Complex with match time set for 10:15 a.m.
