SPRINGFIELD, Mo-- The 13^th-ranked Drury men's tennis team upended 19^th-ranked Washburn 6-3 in their season opener Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex.

The Panthers (1-0), claimed doubles wins at the top and bottom of the lineup, winning 8-6 at number one and 9-7 at number three. Chase Brill and Paul Haase kept Washburn in the match with an 8-4 victory in the two spot.

Newcomers set the tone with wins at numbers three through five in the Panthers lineup.  Augustin Diot drooped the opening set 6-7, then finished off Haase 6-4- 6-4.  Gregor Kokalj and Lukas Stierling both cruised to wins, Kokalj 6-1, 6-4 and Stierling 6-3, 6-2  Nico Hadeler, a sophomore from Germany, handled Blake Hunter 6-2, 6-2.

On February 4^th, Drury will play host to McKendree at Cooper Tennis Complex at 10:15 a.m.
