SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—The Drury men's golf team continued their hot play in cold conditions with a second place finish at the University of Illinois Springfield Spring Invitational on Sunday at the Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois.
 
After winning the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational last week, Drury finished just five shots back of tournament winner and host Illinois Springfield in this weekend's event. The Panthers shot a 604 in the 36-hole tournament that featured 11 teams. The Prairie Stars fired a 599 while McKendree posted a team score of 605 to finish one stroke behind Drury for third.
 
Craig Stefureak finished third in the individual scoring shooting a two-over-par 146 for the tournament. The junior from Caledonia, Ontario was just one shot off the championship pace. He posted a 74 on Saturday and scored an even-par 72 in the second round. Stefureak's finish is the third time in the last four tournaments he has placed in the top five.
 
Tony Brandt had the next lowest score for Drury and tied for 13th shooting 152 in the tournament while Josh Fronabarger finished tied for 17th with a score of 153.
 
This weekend's event was the final regular season tournament for the Panthers. Drury's next competition is the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship tournament held April 22-24 at the Prairie View Country Club in Carmel, Indiana.
