SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury men's tennis team is seeded second in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional and will host the opening two rounds of the national tournament to be played on Monday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 1 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The Panthers are 18-4 and ranked 21st in NCAA-II. They received an at-large bid to the national tournament after finishing as the GLVC runner-up last weekend.
Drury will take on seventh-seeded Grand Valley State (15-8) on Monday at 11 a.m. in the opening round. The other first round match-up on Monday has number three seed Ferris State (20-2), the champions of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, taking on sixth-seeded Northwood (16-4). That match also starts at 11 a.m. on Monday.
The second round is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Winners from the regional tournaments will advance to the round of 16 at the NCAA-II championship site in Surprise, Arizona May 9-12.
The Panthers are in the NCAA-II tournament for the 19th straight season. Last year, Drury advanced to the national quarterfinals.
