SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Panthers kept their regular season winning streak in the Great Lakes Valley Conference alive…but just barely as Drury rallied to defeat Rockhurst 5-4 on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The Panthers, ranked 20
th in NCAA-II, improved to 14-3 and 4-0 in the GLVC while extending their winning streak in the league's regular season to 75 games. Drury has never lost in the conference regular season since joining the league in 2006. Rockhurst dropped to 14-3 and 3-1 in the GLVC.
The Hawks won the first two doubles matches. With cold weather forcing play indoors limiting the number of available courts, the third doubles match started after Rockhurst's two wins, but Drury's duo of Augustin Diot and Paul Porcher put the Panthers on the board with an 8-4 win.
Drury then won four of the six singles matches as Nico Hadeler, Sabastien Amato, Lukas Stierling, and Porcher all prevailed.
Saturday was Senior Day for the Panthers as the program honored seniors Sabastien Amato and Sacha Mourier before the match.
The Panthers will play their final non-conference match of the season as they travel to 11
th ranked Southwest Baptist on Tuesday at 2 pm in Bolivar.
