Panthers Move to Round of 16 at NCAA-II tournament with 5-2 win over Ferris State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury men's tennis team moved on to the NCAA-II round of 16 with a 5-2 victory over Ferris State in the second round of the Midwest Regional tournament on Tuesday at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
 
The Panthers, seeded first and ranked 20th nationally, improved to 20-2 while third seeded Ferris State ended their season with a 21-3 record.
 
Drury won two of the three doubles matches with Ferris claiming a 8-4 win at the top of their lineup. The Drury pair of Lukas Stierling and Nico Hadeler posted an 8-3 win over Austin DeBruyne and Danill Tarantinov to get the Panthers their first point.  Augustin Diot and Paul Porcher gave Drury a 2-1 lead and match momentum when they edged Mathis Guerre and Pablo Munoz Baroja 9-8.
 
Hadeler and Diot both earned 6-2, 6-1 singles victories for Drury over Steward Sell and DeBruyne to get the Panthers within a point of the win.  Barjoa earned the Bulldogs lone singles victory 7-6, 7-5, before DU senior Sebastien Amato sealed the match for the Panthers with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Nur Adim Iswan at No. 2 singles.
 
The Panthers will advance to the round of 16 on May 9-12 in Surprise, Arizona, the final site of the NCAA-II national championship matches.
