This week, we will continue to reveal our Drury Dozen – the top 12 moments from 2017-18 as voted on by members of the Drury University athletics media relations team that covered a variety of DU sports throughout the year.
The list on this countdown does not reflect the most significant moments from the year, although the biggest games/events certainly played a part in our decision. Ultimately, these were our favorite moments from the previous year and the ones that we will likely always associate with the 2017-18 sports season.
#5 – DU women's swimming captures GLVC title
The Drury women's swimming & diving team won their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in 2018, and they won the title without Bailee Nunn.
Nunn, who would later be named to NCAA-II Women's Swimmer of the Year in 2018, and who last year won Swimmer of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the conference, missed the entire league championship meet with an injury.
Drury won the title anyway with 898.5 points to finish ahead of second-place Indianapolis' 765.5 points. Erica Dahlgren would be named the GLVC Swimmer of the Year as the sophomore won three individual events and took home a fourth championship in a relay.
The league crown was the program's fourth in five years.
