DETROIT, Mich.—The Drury Panthers advanced to the second round of the NCAA-II tournament with a 4-1 win over Northwood (Mich.) at the Peachtree Tennis Club in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday.
Drury improved to 16-5 and ended Northwood's season at 13-10.
The Panthers fell behind 1-0 after losing two doubles matches but rallied to win four straight in singles to clinch the win.
Nico Hadeler evened the score at 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kobus Sauerman, then
Lukas Stierling defeated Ivan Medvynski 6-0, 6-1.
Augustin Diot gave the Panthers a 3-1 edge with a 6-4, 6-0 win against David Reinauer, and
Leonardo Cerri, playing in Drury's number six position, clinched the victory for the Panthers with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Hayden Drury.
Drury advances to the sub-regional final and will play host and number two seed Wayne State on Sunday at 10:30 am (Central) in Detroit. The winner of that match will advance to the round of 16 and NCAA-II championship site May 21-24 at Sanlando Park in Almonte Springs, Florida.
