PITTSBURG, Kan.– The Drury men's and women's track & field teams opened the indoor season by setting four program records at the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday.
Claire McCune set a pair of team marks. The senior from Springfield finished second among 17 runners and set the program record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.15. McCune set another team mark in the mile and was in second place again in a field of 21 runners with a time of 4:54.28. Her time is a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA-II national championship.
Ashley Childers, a native of Ozark, Arkansas, made her track & field debut for the Panthers and set team records in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Childers was fifth among 18 runners in the 60-meter event and finished with a time of 7.89. She then turned in a fourth-place finish among 24 runners posting a program-record time of 25.69.

Trevor Johnson had a pair of strong showings in two events. Johnson was sixth among 24 runners in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.07 and was 13
th in a 26-runner field, posting a time of 22.68.
Matt Moler was fifth among 11 runners in the mile with a time of 4:21.51.
Both Drury track & field teams compete again next Saturday when they take part in the Northwest Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State.
