FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill.— The Drury Panthers opened the 2021-22 season with an 11^th place finish among 16 teams at the Bearcat Open hosted by McKendree in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
 
Nebraska won the tournament while McKendree finished second.
 
The Panthers went 4-6 going into bracket play on Sunday and took 11^th place, defeating Quincy in a best-of-seven match 4-2. Drury opened the final day of competition with a 4-0 sweep of Carthage to advance to the 11^th place match.
 
Anna Bartz, a sophomore from Dension, Michigan, led the Panthers and posted the 14^th best average in the tournament at 191.6.
 
Drury returns to action Oct. 29-31 in the Valpo Bowling Classic at the Stardust Bowl in Dyer, Indiana.
