SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury University will discontinue its NCAA women's bowling program effective immediately. The university will continue to honor the scholarships and financial aid for the six remaining student-athletes for the duration of their academic career at Drury.
"This recent decision was not taken lightly and was made only after careful consideration," said Drury University President, Dr. Tim Cloyd. "I am extremely proud of the current and past members of our women's bowling program. Over the years, they have shown great dedication to Drury and the athletics department. Through continuing to provide the six bowlers with their scholarships, we hope to honor that hard work and commitment."
The women's bowling program started competing at the NCAA level in 2016-17 and had been a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference since 2019-20.
Drury University now offers 21 sports competing in the NCAA and 12 non-NCAA athletic programs. Six new non-NCAA sports were added for the 2022-2023 season: men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rugby, men's ice hockey, and STUNT.
