MARYVILLE, Mo.– Last week, 
Claire McCune set a facility record in the 3,000-meter run at Northwest Missouri State, and this weekend, the senior from Springfield topped that performance and won the event for the second week in a row.
 
The Panthers returned to Maryville, Missouri, for the Bearcat Invitational indoor track & field meet, and Drury broke a pair of team records on Saturday.
 
McCune ran 10 seconds faster than last week in the 3,000-meter run completing the event in 9:40.60. The New Covenant Academy product won the race by 21 seconds and broke the facility record at Hughes Fieldhouse for the second week in a row. McCune also broke Drury's record in the event, and her time is a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA-II national indoor track & field meet.
 
In other highlights from Saturday's meet, freshman Ashley Childers was sixth among 56 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.89. Jacy Rule, a freshman from Collinsville, Oklahoma, ran the fourth-best 400-meter time in program history and came in 13
th among 19 runners with a time of 1:02.71.
 
Valerie Daehler set a program record for the Panthers in the high jump. The freshman from Rockford, Illinois, posted a jump of 1.49 meters, topping a seven-year-old mark. Daehler finished 11
th in the event. She returned to finish sixth in the triple jump, and her leap of 19.58 ranks second in Drury history.
 
In men's track & field, Drury's Luke Kerr was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles. Kerr, a freshman from Nixa, posted a time of 9.26, the third-fastest time in Panthers history.
 
John Schupbach came in third on Saturday in the triple jump. The junior from Monett, Missouri, registered a jump of 12.49 meters.
 
Both Panthers teams compete again next Saturday in the Ichabod Invitational hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
