Drury wins sixth straight with 6-1 win over Nebraska-Kearney

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury tennis team won their sixth straight match with a 6-1 win over Nebraska-Kearney at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Saturday.
 
The Panthers improved to 6-1 and dropped the Lopers to 2-4.
 
Drury took a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches, but each of the three was close. Maria De L Torre and Clara Kuehnle won their doubles match 7-6, while the Panthers earned 6-4 wins in the other two.
 
Drury won five of the six singles matches. Alma Abazi stayed unbeaten on the season and went to 7-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Mia Sherikuleva. After winning her first set 7-5, Viktoriya Zheleva closed out her match with a 6-2 win. Clara Kuehnle, Kseniia Eremina, and Madeline Schneider also picked up wins as the Panthers took six of the seven points.
 
Drury is idle until they face Cowley Community College in an exhibition on March 27 at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
