INDIANAPOLIS – Drury women's tennis 2026 campaign ended with a 4-3 loss to Maryville in the GLVC Quarterfinals on Friday (May 1) in Indianapolis.
- Maryville jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first and third doubles lines.
- The Saints extended their lead to two with a line on the fourth line in straight sets.
- Naz Yaver was the first Panther to pick up a win. Yaver won the third line 6-1 and 6-4. She finished her freshman season with a 13-4 singles record.
- Antanina Novik took Maryville's Saka to a decisive third set, but Saka ended up taking the point.
- Franca Piaggi won the fifth line for Drury 7-5 and 6-2 for the Panthers second point.
- Leana Chanove kept Drury in contention for the match with a three-set win on the top line. Chanove ends her Drury career with 49 singles wins, tied with Viktoriya Zheleva for 14th in program history.
- With the match tied at three, it came to the sixth line to decide who would advance to the GLVC Semifinals. Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa took the first set 6-2. The next two sets went in favor of Maryville, both ending 6-4, to allow the Saints to advance.
- It is the first time in program history that Drury has lost to Maryville.
- The Panthers finish the season with a 10-7 record. It is the sixth straight season that Drury has won at least ten matches in a season. The last time they did not win at least ten was the 2020 Covid season that ended with a 9-1 record with eight regular season matches left.
