SPRINGFIELD, Mo – Drury men's and women' s each won their fifth straight matches on Sunday afternoon against William Woods. The men's team (5-1) won 4-3, and the women's team (5-0) beat the Owls 6-1.
 
MEN MATCH – Drury 4, William Woods 3

• Drury took an early 1-0 lead behind two wins in the three doubles matches. Chuy Gonzalez and Tristan Stock (first line) won 6-1. Caden Lingenfelser and Emile Payment (third line) won 7-5 to clinch the point.
• The Panthers' second singles player, Matthieu Gachon, extended the lead behind a win (6-2, 6-2).
• William Woods earned their first point of the afternoon on the third singles line.
• Chuy Gonzalez (first line) and Tristan Stock (third line) clinched the win for Drury with their wins in singles.
• With the match already locked up for Drury, the Owls won the fifth and sixth singles line, both in three sets, to tighten the final score.
• The win is the Panthers' fifth straight win after dropping the season opener.

 
WOMEN'S MATCH – Drury 6, William Woods 1

• The Panthers took the doubles point behind wins on the first (Naz Yaver/Antanina Novik) and third lines (Ana Luisa Sathler Rosa/Ina Bechle).
• Leana Chanove and Brooklyn Acuff played their first match of the season together; they lost 3-6. It was Chanove's first loss in either doubles or singles this season.
• Chanove bounced back with a sweep on the top line (6-1, 6-2). She still has not lost a singles set since the first set of the season.
• Antanina Novik (6-3, 6-3) and Naz Yaver (6-2, 6-0) won their lines in straight sets to clinch the win for Drury.
• Ina Bechle won the fourth line in a decisive third set, 10 to 4.
• Charlotte Lesage won her first career match from the sixth position. Lesage had to go three sets (5-7, 7-5, 10-3) for the win.
• The Owls' only win came in the fifth line in straight sets.

 
UP NEXT
The Panthers are back on the court Friday, March 6, against McKendree in Springfield. The first serve is scheduled for 11 am.
