SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Missouri-St. Louis Tritons handed Drury a 4-2 loss on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The Panthers dropped to 8-4 and 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UMSL raised their record to 7-2 and 3-0 in the league.
Missouri-St. Louis won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match. While Drury won their lead match-up with
Alma Abazi and
Nastasia Jedrychowski, the Tritons won the number two, and number three doubles match to take the point.
The Panthers pulled even during singles play as
Viktoriya Zheleva won 6-3, 6-3, and
Clara Kuehnle came away with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Abazi, playing in Drury's lead singles position, lost for the first time this season as Marina Prediger came away with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory. The Tritons won in the number two singles position as well Odette Beagrie defeated
Nastasia Jedrychowski 7-6, 0-6, 6-3.
Anna Domingo also won for the Tritons as she got past
Kseniia Eremina 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Panthers are back at home tomorrow as they take on William Woods in a non-conference match starting at 1 pm in the Cooper Tennis Complex.
