SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury won six of seven possible points in a non-conference win over William Woods at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Sunday.
The Panthers improved to 9-4 while the Owls, ranked 11
th in the NAIA, fell to 10-5.
Drury took all three doubles matches, and the Panthers top team of
Alma Abazi and Nastasia Jedrychowsk fought for a 7-6 win.
Abazi, playing in Drury's number one singles position, took the only loss for the Panthers and fell to 10-2 on the season after a 7-6, 6-2 setback. Drury won the other five singles matches. Maria De La Torre stayed unbeaten and went to 8-0 for the year as the sophomore from Peru swept past her opponent in the number six position, 6-0, 6-0.
The Panthers are back at home on Friday when they host Truman State for a 1:30 pm match at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
