SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury earned their second 7-0 win of the weekend and ended the regular season with a home victory over Quincy at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Saturday.
The Panthers will head to the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament with an 11-4 record and a 4-2 mark in the league. Quincy fell to 6-7 and 3-2 in the GLVC.
Drury picked up the match's first point winning all three doubles matches, including a 6-0 win by Maria De La Torre and
Kseniia Eremina playing in the number three doubles spot.
Alma Abazi and
Nastasia Jedrychowski went to 5-0 in the GLVC and 11-3 on the year with a 6-2 win in Drury's lead doubles slot.
The Panthers won all six singles matches, and De La Torre, playing in the team's number six spot, won her match-up 6-0, 6-0 and ended the regular season undefeated at 10-0. Drury's lead singles player,
Alma Abazi, had to battle through three sets and a third-set tie-breaker to defeat Laila Leist-Alston 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (11-9) to go to 12-2 for the season.
The Panthers will head to the GLVC Tournament in Romeoville, Illinois, April 30-May 2.
