ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Drury opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament with a 4-0 win over Illinois Springfield in the quarterfinals at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis on Friday.
The Panthers, the number two seed from the West Division, improved to 16-2. The Prairie Stars, seeded third from the East Division, ended their season with a 9-9 record.
Drury took a 1-0 lead winning two doubles matches.
Clara Kuehnle and
Viktoriya Zheleva swept their way to a 6-0 win over Illinois Springfield's number three team, then
Kseniia Eremina and
Ewa Samberger clinched the point with a 6-4 win in the number one position.
The Panthers won three singles to end the match in a 4-0 sweep.
Nastasia Jedrychowski defeated Riann Hsu 6-1, 6-2, and lead singles player
Ewa Samberger earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sina Skjelstad.
Viktoriya Zheleva then ended the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Piper Schrepferman.
Drury advances to the GLVC semifinals where they will play 12
th ranked and East Division champion Indianapolis on Saturday at 5 pm. The Greyhounds defeated Rockhurst 4-0 on Saturday.
