Katie McCune wins GLVC title in 800-meter run; DU women's squad finishes 5th at league championship

BOLIVAR, Mo.— The Drury women's track & field team had their best finish in program history at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships as they came in fifth after the second and final day of competition in Bolivar, Missouri on Saturday. The Drury men's team finished 12th.
 
Lewis won the women's championship with 188.5 points. Southwest Baptist was second and Indianapolis finished third.
 
Missouri S&T was the men's track & field champion finishing with 166.5 points. Lewis came in second and Lindenwood was third in the men's competition.
 
Women's Highlights
 
  • Katie McCune won the GLVC Championship in the 800-meter run as the senior took the event with a time of 2:07.25 and finished first by 0.72 seconds
  • Imani Brown was third in the high jump (1.65 meters) while Margaux Shelton was seventh in that event (1.57 meters)
  • Jolie McClellan was fourth in the javelin (41.13 meters)
  • Claire McCune came in second in the 1500 meter run (4:25.60), and Bradley Weimer finished eighth (4:37.33)
  • Bria Armstrong was second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.26
  • In the 100-meter dash, the Panthers had two place as Ashley Childers came in fifth (12.06) and Margaux Shelton was seventh (12.10)
  • Iman Brown was fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.91 and Jacy Rule came in eighth posting a time of 59.10
  • Childers was also fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.86)
  • Drury had two women's relay teams place as their 4x100 squad finished second with a time of 47.15 and their 4x400 team was third (3:53.75)
 
Men's Highlights
 
  • Drury had two runners place in the 1500-meter run as William Kershaw was fifth with a time of 3:50.57 and Matt Moler was right behind him in sixth posting a time of 3:50.84
  • Trevor Johnson placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.27
  • Drury's 4x100-meter relay team came in sixth finishing with a time of 43.19
