SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Both the Drury men's and women's tennis teams won Intercollegiate Tennis Association Team Academic awards, and 14 players from DU's tennis squads were named Scholar-Athletes by the ITA.
To earn a Team Academic Award from the ITA, teams had to post a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better among their varsity letter winners. Drury's women's tennis team had a 3.55 GPA, while the men's team earned a 3.42 GPA. Both teams also won a Great Lakes Valley Conference Team Academic Award earlier this year.
Eight members of Drury's men's team picked up a Scholar-Athlete honor, while six players from the women's squad won the award. Student-athletes had to have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average for the current academic year to be named a Scholar-Athlete by the ITA.
The Drury men's team finished the season 9-7 and won the GLVC West Division going 5-0 in the conference. The Panthers women's team went 16-4, advanced to the NCAA-II Tournament, and ended the year ranked 24
th in the nation.
