TEMPE, Ariz.— The Drury Panthers finished fourth at the NCAA Triathlon National Championships,
Zoe Van Dijk earned All-America honors, and
Alexis Workman won her heat at the event on Saturday in Tempe, Arizona.
Drury came in fourth among NCAA-II teams with 666 points. Lenoir-Rhyne won the D-II title with 847 points, Wingate was second with 753, and Colorado Mesa came in third with 723 points.
Van Dijk, a senior from The Netherlands, was seventh among Division II competitors and was 51
st overall in a field of 194 athletes. She completed the 750-meter swim, the 20-kilometer bike race, and the five-kilometer run with a time of 1:08:43.
Mayumi Shinozuka, a sophomore from Malaysia, was 15
th in her division and 71
st overall (1:11:01).
Alexis Workman won the first heat of the championship. The Springfield native from Summit Prep completed the race in 1:11:12 and was 17
th in D-II and 74
th overall. Isabella Buenting was 21
st and 89
th overall (1:12:31),
Abby Robinson came in 29
th and 100
th overall (1:16:06), and
Olivia Hall finished 30
th in NCAA-II and 101
st overall (1:16:20).
Sabrina Fleig from Lenoir-Rhyne won the Divison II national championship and was ninth among all competitors with a time of 1:04:35. Maira Carreau from Denver University won the Division I and overall national title, finishing with a time of 1:03:22.
The Panthers matched their fourth-place finish from last year's national championship, and it marked the second year in a row Drury has produced an All-American at the event.
