SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) announced their 2024 Scholar All-Americans on Wednesday, January 22. Drury had four individuals named to the first team and two named to honorable mention. The team, as a whole, was named as a Scholar All-American team.
To be eligible for the team honor, the team must average a 3.2 grade point average during the fall semester. To make the first team, individuals must have a 3.5 GPA or greater and finish in the top 21 of their division at the National Championships. Individuals selected to honorable mention teams must have a 3.5 GPA or greater and compete in the National Championships but finish outside the top 21.
Senior,
Katie Quade, finished 17th in the national championship race. The Chesterfield, Missouri, native is majoring in Exercise Physiology and Biology with a minor in Psychology.
Mayumi Shinozuka, a junior, from Maylasia, finished 15th in the national championship. Shinozuka is studying Business Economics and Cyber Risk Management with a minor in Computer Science.
Drury's highest finisher in the national championship,
Kristina Vestman finished tenth in Division II. Vestman, a sophomore from Sweden, is majoring in Exercise Physiology and Math.
Springfield native,
Alexis Workman, placed 12th at the national championship. The Summit Prep product is majoring in Biology in her senior year.
Tarryn Brumley was named to the Scholar All-American Honorable Mention team. The sophomore finished the national championship in 36th. She is majoring in Chemistry with minors in Math and Pre-Engineering.
Graduate student,
Bella Buenting, was named to the honorable mention team after finishing nationals in 28th. The native of Minnesota majored in Marketing with a minor in Biology during her undergraduate.
Drury's season ended on November 9 in the NCAA National Championship in Clermont, Florida. The team finished in third NCAA-II, the highest in program history. The third-place finish came after winning their first-ever regional championship.
