SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury Tennis Head Coach Jarrod Smith earned his 500th career win as Drury sweeps Emporia State 7-0 on Sunday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The Panthers improved to 3-1 and dropped the Hornets to 1-2.
Drury took a 1-0 lead in doubles as Ewe Samberger / Kseniia Eremina won 6-4, Maria Fernanda De la Torre Ugarte Espejo / Clara Kuehnle posted a 6-3 victory, and Alma Abazi / Nastasia Jedrychowski won 6-1. The Panthers then got six victories in singles as Jedrychowski, Kuehnle, Samberger, Chanova, and De la Torre Ugarte Espejo won in straight sets. Abazi defeated her opponent in three sets to complete the sweep.
Drury plays again on Saturday as they take on Newman at 7 pm on the indoor courts of the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
