SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury won their fourth straight match and their third in a row by shutout with a 7-0 win over Quincy on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
 
It was the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams as the Panthers improved to 9-4 and 1-0 in the GLVC. Quincy fell to 3-5 and 0-1 in the league.
 
Drury went ahead 1-0, winning two of the three doubles matches. Maria Fernanda De la Torre Ugarte Espejo and Clara Kuehnle clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Mar Sarda Marti and Mahi Panchal. The duo improved to 11-2 on the season.
 
The Panthers swept all six singles matches. Clara Kuehnle had to battle to a tie-breaker after splitting two sets against Steffi Lao, 2-6, 6-2 but won 10-6. The senior from Germany went to 11-2, all in Drury's number two singles position. Ewe Samberger went to 10-2 on the season with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Blanca Salas Cruz, and the Panthers lead singles player, Nastasia Jedrychowski, won 6-2, 6-1 over Varvara Griva. Alma Abazi went to 12-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory, while Leana Chanova and Ksensiia Eremina also picked up wins.
 
Drury returns to action on Saturday when they host Truman State at 2 pm in the Cooper Tennis Complex.
