SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The receiving votes Drury Women's Tennis team traveled to Northeastern State to take on the Riverhawks in a weekend match.
 
Drury went down 1-0  in doubles as Ewa Samberger / Kseniia Eremina were the only pairing to win (6-2). Drury then fought back and leveled the score at 3-3 with wins from Clara Kuehnle winning 6-4, 6-3, Ewa Samberger winning 6-2, 6-1, and Alma Abazi winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-6. The "winner take all match" came down to the 6^th singles matchup between Maria Espejo and Northeastern State's Sandra Mari Marti. Espejo went down in the first set 6-4 but then came back to win the second set 6-3. She fell in a hard-fought deciding third set 7-5, and that result gave Northeastern State the victory.
 
The Panthers dropped to 6-4 after the contest while the Riverhawks improve to 4-1.
 
Drury plays again on Saturday, March 11 as they travel to McKendree.
