ORLANDO, Fla.— Drury's run through the NCAA-II Tournament was halted in the third round as the Panthers ran into second-ranked Nova Southeastern, who earned a 4-0 win at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, on Friday night.
 
The Panthers, seeded 15^th, ended their season with a 17-6 record, while Nova Southeastern advances to the national quarterfinals with a 24-3 mark.
 
Drury fell behind 1-0 after the Sharks picked up two wins in the doubles round. Nova Southeastern's top doubles pair of Natalie Espinal and Fatima Bizhukova are ranked number one in NCAA-II and got past Drury's Kseniia Eremina and Ewa Samberger 6-3 to clinch the doubles point. Drury's Maria Fernanda Da la Torre Ugarte Espejo and Clara Kuehnle had a 5-4 lead in their doubles match when Nova Southeastern clinched the point to stop play.
 
The Sharks got three singles wins to close out the match. Julie Razafindranaly, ranked 10^th nationally, defeated Nastasia Jedrychowski in the number one match-up, 6-2, 6-0. 14^th ranked Natalie Espinal snapped Clara Kuehnle's 15-match winning streak with a 6-0, 6-4 win. Fatima Bizhukova got the Sharks other win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alma Abazi.
 
Nova Southeastern will play Columbus State in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
 
Drury was making their first appearance in the third round of the NCAA-II Tournament since 2018 and were playing in their 24^th NCAA-II Tournament in program history.
